Residents in Near Northside and Brooke Smith/Montie Beach enjoy the nature along White Oak Bayou. People go bird-watching and walking along the trails. Family members and neighbors walk to visit each other, and residents have good public transportation access to reach Downtown and beyond.
As a neighborhood, we want to see the trails along White Oak Bayou preserved and enhanced. We are concerned that the proposed I-45 expansion will worsen air quality, noise, and cut off access between east and west. We are concerned with impacts to children in nearby schools who should be able to play outside during recess and enjoy fresh air.
"We want to see creative ideas to solve traffic problems and not another Katy Freeway."
